Grand Opening

The grand opening of John's baseball complex was on Saturday. It was quite a big deal. The governor was there along with some famous baseball players from the Indians. Kate was a little confused. She kept wondering when the Indians were going to come and dance.

Mostly the kids just ran around on the fields and played on the equipment.

We watch a lot of Scooby Doo at our house. This is Kate's Demon Farmer impression.

Jonas enjoyed running wild. What he really wanted was to play with the big kids.

Where does she come up with this stuff?

Kate has been saying some pretty funny stuff lately. Here are a few statements she has made the past couple of days.

• I have a headache because I ate too much junk food. Eggs and vitamins, that’s junk food.
• I have the power to get my toast.
• My tummy is saying “I need reep beer, I need reep beer” My tummy trusts reep beer.
• You don’t have any patience.
• My poor dry mouth needs a drink.
• You need to learn how to let me buckle myself.

Jonas is in an eating phase. He usually out eats John and I. We went to the splash park today and while Kate was playing, he ate all her food.

Kate made wishes before she ran through the rainbows. She would close her eyes and say, "I wish to go home and see my dogs and my cat." At least it was a wish that was pretty easy to fulfill.

We Found a House!

If everything goes as planned we should close mid October. I can't wait to be done with our 3rd and final move of the year! Wahoo!!!

P.S. Shaggy II jumped out of his bowl and to his death. We are not getting anymore fish!

R.I.P. Shaggy

Sid "Daphne" "Velma" "Shaggy" Walker died Sept. 18, 2008 in his fishbowl in Phoenix. He was born in a fish farm in Thailand to Fem Betta and Male Betta. He moved to AZ 6 months later and was adopted by Kate Walker. "Shaggy" lived a happy life on Kate's bookshelf where he was given a new identity every day.

"Shaggy" is survived by his brothers and sisters residing in Petco and his owner Kate who is already over it and has replaced him with Shaggy II.

Giants Baseball

On a whim we went to see the Giants play the D-Backs at Chase Stadium. Fun times were had once in a while.

We got there just after the second inning. I think the Giants had scored 3 in the first inning and the Diamond Backs had scored 1 in the first inning and 5 in the second. Only one run was scored the entire time we were at the game.

Kate had a good time most of the game. I am not sure she could even really see the players where we were sitting. She just enjoyed eating flower seeds and popcorn.

Jonas was okay for the first while. Once he had fully explored our row and the row in front of us he got bored.

We left during the 8th inning because Jonas was done! During the 9th inning the Giants made a comeback. Overall not the best baseball experience we have had.

We really need to find a babysitter.

Today His Name is Velma

Kate has been bugging us about getting a new pet. She has asked for turtles, chickens, cockatiels, ducks, rats and fish. The other day she told me the dogs wanted children and we needed to go get them some puppies.

I decided a fish would be the easiest to manage in our current situation.

She names him something new each day. So far he has been Sid, Daphne, and Velma. (Kate has a thing for Scooby Doo right now)

Let's Try This Again

I am going to try this again. Hopefully our lives have settled down a bit, so I will be able to find time to post.

Just to get everyone on the same page. John finished school in May. We sold our house in Logan and moved in with my aunt Cheeryl in Herriman, UT the first of June. John worked for the Salt Lake Bees throughout the summer. In July John got a job at the new spring training facility for the Indians in Goodyear, AZ. We moved at the beginning of August to Phoenix.

So here we are cooking in the heat and thankful everyday for air conditioning. I feel like we have moved to a different planet. It is monsoon season right now, and the weather is quite spectacular and bizarre. We have fantastic lightning storms almost every evening. You can see them really well because there are no real trees (just glorified bushes). Last week we had a dust storm called a Haboob. Yes it is pronounced Ha-boob just like it is spelled. It is a wall of dust that moves across the valley. I found this video on YouTube if you want to check out what one looks like. Phoenix Haboob 2007.

John loves his job. He has to be there at 6 am. Amazingly he has adjusted well. Those of you who have ever lived with John will understand just how amazing this is. Overall I think we are adjusting. Kate misses Ella and I miss adult conversation, grass and trees, but we are meeting a few people and finding fun things to do.
